• With no signs of a let-up in mortgage fraud and other scams, the US Attorney's Office for Minnesota is forming a civil frauds unit. The unit will focus on mortgage fraud and program fraud across a wide range of government programs, including healthcare, social security and workers' compensation, according to Jerry Wilhelm, one of three attorneys who will work in the new unit. • Capital One Bank will refund nearly $2.4 million to consumers over erroneous claims filed in bankruptcy cases, the Department of Justice said Tuesday. The refunds involve claims that Capital One filed for debts that previously had been discharged, the federal agency's U.S. Trustee Program said.
